Trump Alleges ‘Triple Sabotage’ at UN After Escalator Mishap Nearly Toppled First Lady

President Demands Arrests Over Incident
Former United States President Donald Trump has called for the arrest of those allegedly responsible for what he described as “triple sabotage” during his visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025.
The controversy began when an escalator carrying Trump and First Lady Melania abruptly stopped, almost causing a serious fall. Video footage showed Melania jolting forward as the machine came to an unexpected halt while the couple was on their way to address world leaders at the UN General Assembly.
Trump Cries Foul, Demands Investigation
On his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote:
“A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but three very sinister events! The escalator stopped dead. It’s amazing Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto those sharp steel steps. Whoever did this should be arrested!”
According to Akahi News reports, Trump also alleged that his teleprompter malfunctioned during his speech and that the audio system failed, leaving those without earpieces unable to hear his address.
UN Provides Explanation
However, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric dismissed any sabotage claims, explaining that a member of the US delegation may have accidentally triggered the escalator’s emergency stop while filming the President’s arrival.
“A videographer travelling backward likely tripped the safety mechanism at the top of the escalator,” Dujarric clarified. “It was a built-in function designed to prevent accidents.”
Trump Insists It Was No Coincidence
Trump remained unconvinced, insisting the three incidents were “absolutely sabotage” and demanding the preservation of all security footage for review.
“It wasn’t a coincidence,” he fumed. “They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
Despite the drama, the UN General Assembly continued as planned, with world leaders focusing on global security, climate change, and economic recovery.
