Urgent Appeal for Electricity Restoration and Security in Obalogun Street, Akodi Obalogun, and Oduduwa College Road, Ile-Ife

Ile-Ife– In a distressing situation that has persisted for the past two months, the residents of Obalogun Street, Akodi Obalogun, and Oduduwa College Road in the heart of Ile-Ife find themselves in complete darkness, without any glimmer of hope for the restoration of electricity supply. The dire circumstances have not only plunged the affected areas into darkness but have also posed a severe threat to the security of the residents, as rampant criminal activities have surged in the absence of reliable power.

Mr. Akahi, a concerned resident of the affected area, has stepped forward to make a heartfelt appeal to the Chairman of Ife Central Local Government Area, the affluent sons and daughters of Ile-Ife, and all well-meaning individuals, including His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, and Senator Omisore, to come to their aid.

The crisis began when the transformer cable supplying power to these neighborhoods was stolen, leaving the residents grappling with a lack of electricity. This outage has disrupted daily life, causing great inconvenience to the residents, including students who reside in the affected areas. Basic necessities such as lighting, refrigeration, and access to electronic devices have become a luxury for these residents.

Additionally, the absence of electricity has plunged the streets into darkness at night, creating a conducive environment for criminal activities to thrive. Hoodlums have taken advantage of the situation, operating with impunity and putting the safety and well-being of residents at risk. The fear and insecurity that now pervade these areas have left the community living in constant trepidation.
