Villagers Rescue Abducted Army Major in Delta State Forest

The army officer abducted in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, Major Josiah, has been rescued by villagers from the deep forest of Tuomo community.
The officer was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday night by armed youths who stormed his lodge, ransacked the premises, and whisked him away to the creeks of Burutu Local Government Area.
How Villagers Found the Officer
Community sources revealed that Major Josiah was later discovered in the forest after the kidnappers abandoned their vehicle. Palm-wine tappers and lumberers stumbled upon him tied inside a canoe, with gunshot wounds on his leg and hand.
The villagers quickly moved him to a nearby camp for safety before conveying him by canoe to the community, where the military Joint Task Force (JTF) was alerted.
Military Response and Current Condition
The JTF promptly moved the officer to safety after receiving the distress call. Although efforts to reach the military command in Bomadi proved unsuccessful, a reliable source confirmed that Major Josiah has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
Security authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or provide updates on the search for the assailants.
