Wike Defends Tinubu, Says Critics Are ‘Lucky’ to Have a Law-Abiding President
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Nigerians are fortunate to have President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a leader who upholds the rule of law, allowing critics to freely express their views without fear of persecution.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N1 in Abuja, Wike remarked:
“This is a country where someone can go on social media and call the President a criminal and nothing will happen. You are lucky to have a President that believes in the rule of law.”
He cautioned critics to recognise the privilege of living under a leader who respects democratic principles, warning that not all leaders might tolerate such open criticism.
Wike, who has often defended Tinubu’s administration on issues of governance and security, stressed the importance of maintaining respect while exercising freedom of speech.
Akahi News gathered that the Minister’s remarks have sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians debating the balance between free speech and political accountability in the country.
