According to a post on the official Yala TV Facebook page, the meeting brought together community correspondents from across Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, with separate gatherings held in Okuku Yala and Yahe to accommodate participants from distant locations.

Two Locations for Convenience

Organisers explained that while Yala 1 Correspondents met in Okuku Yala, Yala 2 Correspondents converged in Yahe to enable easier participation for representatives from Ukelle North and Ukelle South, given the considerable distance between Yahe and Okuku.

“This is a mark of our little beginning,” the post stated, adding that the platform is looking forward to growing steadily with God’s provision and support from the community.

Commitment to Grassroots Reporting

The Director of Yala TV in Nigeria, Joseph Ofana, clarified that Yala TV remains distinct in purpose and administration.

He emphasised that the meeting signifies the commitment of local correspondents to strengthen grassroots journalism, ensuring that rural communities in Yala and beyond have a voice in regional and national discourse.

Future Plans and Expansion

The forum also hinted at plans to expand its network, promising better coordination, training opportunities for correspondents, and wider coverage of events affecting communities across Yala Local Government Area.

Supporters and well-wishers have since taken to social media to commend the initiative, expressing optimism that Yala TV will continue to bridge the information gap between rural communities and the rest of the country.
