Excitement and spiritual anticipation are building as the 2026 Catholic Charismatic Pentecost Retreat officially begins today, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral Church, Lagere, Ile-Ife.
The three-day spiritual gathering, scheduled to run from Thursday to Saturday, will commence daily from 5pm and is expected to attract worshippers, ministers, youths, and members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal from different parts of Osun State and beyond.
Akahi News gathered that the retreat is designed to deepen the spiritual lives of participants through fervent prayer, praise and worship, scriptural reflections, healing sessions, teachings, and encounters centred on the power of the Holy Spirit.

Organisers say the programme is coming at a critical moment when many Nigerians are seeking spiritual encouragement, hope, and divine direction amid prevailing social and economic challenges.
The Pentecost retreat, a major event within Catholic charismatic circles, reflects the Christian remembrance of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. Over the years, such gatherings have continued to serve as platforms for spiritual renewal, evangelisation, and communal worship.
This year’s edition is also expected to reach a wider audience through digital media, as the event will be streamed live on the Akahi News YouTube Channel for viewers unable to attend physically.

Akahi News learnt that preparations for the programme had been ongoing for weeks, with organisers and volunteers working to ensure a smooth and impactful retreat experience for participants.
Religious observers note that Ile-Ife continues to remain one of the notable centres for major faith-based gatherings in South-West Nigeria, hosting programmes that attract worshippers across denominational and regional lines.
As activities commence today, expectations remain high that the retreat will inspire renewed faith, spiritual revival, healing, and stronger commitment to Christian living among attendees and online participants alike.
Members of the public, especially Christians seeking spiritual upliftment and Pentecost experience, have been encouraged to participate physically or virtually throughout the three-day programme.
