In the emotional video, the visibly shaken lady narrated how she and her brother had gone to the farm when they were suddenly attacked by armed men. According to her account, the assailants forcefully dragged them into the bush, where they attempted to subject them to unimaginable cruelty.

She revealed that the kidnappers ordered her to strip and then instructed her brother to have carnal knowledge of her. In a heartbreaking twist, her brother refused, boldly declaring that he would rather die than commit such an abominable act. His defiance reportedly angered the attackers, who then hacked him to death with machetes in her presence before ordering her to flee the scene.

Police Condemn Attack as “Heartless and Barbaric”

Reacting to the viral video, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, issued a statement on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu. The CP strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a “heartless and barbaric act” that must not go unpunished.

The statement read in part:
“The CP, while condoling with the grieving family as well as the good people of Amansea, has ordered the operatives of the State Intelligence Department to identify the survivor in order to assist the Police in its investigation. The Command urges members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative by providing credible information that will aid the swift arrest of the suspects.”

Renewed Crackdown on Kidnapping and Violent Crimes

The police chief further reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain its aggressive campaign against kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes across Anambra. He assured residents that the protection of lives and property remains the police’s highest constitutional duty, and that no effort will be spared in ensuring that the perpetrators of the Amansea killing are brought to justice.

The CP also called for stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities, stressing that timely intelligence and public support are crucial in tracking down criminals who often operate in difficult terrains such as farmlands and forests.

Public Outrage and Calls for Justice

The video has triggered widespread condemnation from civil society groups, traditional leaders, and human rights advocates, many of whom have called on security agencies to redouble efforts to restore safety in rural communities. Social commentators have also urged state and federal authorities to strengthen surveillance and patrol operations in vulnerable areas, particularly farmlands, where unsuspecting citizens are frequently targeted.

For many Nigerians, the victim’s brave stand against the attackers has been hailed as a testament to moral courage, even in the face of death. The story has further highlighted the urgent need for decisive action against kidnappers who continue to terrorise communities with impunity.

As investigations continue, the Anambra State Police Command has assured the public that it remains resolute in dismantling kidnapping networks and curbing violent crimes in the state. For the bereaved family and the Amansea community, the tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the dangers posed by unchecked criminality and the urgent need for collective vigilance.
