Arsenal Announce Major Midfield Reinforcement
Arsenal have officially completed the signing of England international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a blockbuster deal worth £60 million, with an additional £8 million in performance-related add-ons. The Gunners confirmed the transfer on their official website on Saturday, just hours before their Premier League clash against Leeds United.

Eze, who has signed a four-year contract with an option for a further year, will don the iconic number 10 shirt previously worn by club legends Dennis Bergkamp, Mesut Özil, and Robin van Persie. The move marks a homecoming for the 26-year-old, who began his youth career at Arsenal before being released in 2011.
Arteta and Arsenal Management Hail Eze’s Arrival
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his delight at the acquisition, describing Eze as a player who will add “a new dimension” to the Gunners’ attacking options.
“We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game,” Arteta said. “His journey, mentality, and ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club.”
Sporting Director Andrea Berta also praised the new signing, highlighting Eze’s technical brilliance and ability to perform in high-pressure games.
“Eberechi is a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality – also a big-game player. His experience at international level with England underlines his character. We are very confident he will be an important addition to our squad,” Berta noted.
A Transfer Battle Won Against Tottenham
Akahi News learnt that Arsenal swooped in to finalise the deal after London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were in advanced talks with Crystal Palace. The move was accelerated following Kai Havertz’s injury setback, forcing the Gunners to act swiftly.
The midfielder becomes Arsenal’s seventh signing of a busy transfer window, joining Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres.
Looking Ahead: Liverpool Clash Beckons
Eze is expected to make his debut for Arsenal in their high-profile Premier League fixture against Liverpool at Anfield next Sunday. Fans are eagerly anticipating how his creativity and flair will integrate into Arteta’s system as the Gunners aim to mount a strong title challenge this season.
