Atiku Will Never Be President of Nigeria — Oba of Lagos Declares, Says Tinubu’s Emergence Is Divine
The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has firmly declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will never become Nigeria’s president, insisting that destiny has never favoured him despite his repeated attempts since 1992.
Speaking with journalists at his Iga Iduganran Palace in Lagos as part of activities marking his 22nd anniversary on the throne, the respected monarch said the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not by chance but by divine arrangement.

“The future belongs to God. But let me say it plainly: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will never be President of Nigeria,” Oba Akiolu stated.
‘Tinubu’s Presidency Is God’s Plan’ — Akiolu
The monarch described President Bola Tinubu as a compassionate and visionary leader, stressing that his rise to the highest political office in the land was ordained by God.
According to him, few believed Tinubu would ever occupy the presidency, but divine will made it possible.
“Tinubu is compassionate and visionary. Who would have believed he’d become president? He presented his certificate to me first after winning,” the royal father disclosed.
Akahi News learnt that Oba Akiolu’s remarks reflect his long-standing admiration for Tinubu’s leadership style and political foresight, particularly in developing Lagos State during his tenure as governor.
Monarch Urges Support for Tinubu’s Administration
In his message to Nigerians, Oba Akiolu appealed for collective support for President Tinubu’s administration, urging citizens to remain patient and prayerful as the government works to stabilise the economy and improve the welfare of the people.
“Lagosians and Nigerians should support him to fulfil God’s purpose for the country,” he admonished.
The Oba emphasised that no matter the political divisions in the country, national unity and faith in divine destiny remain paramount for peace and progress.
Atiku’s Unending Quest for Presidency
Akahi News gathered that Atiku Abubakar has been a recurring figure in Nigeria’s presidential race, having contested several times since the early 1990s under different political parties. Despite his efforts and political experience, fate has continued to elude him from clinching the nation’s top seat.
Political observers note that Oba Akiolu’s latest statement may reignite debates over destiny and leadership in Nigeria’s political space, especially as the nation navigates its current economic and governance challenges.
