Brazilian Couple Dies After Car Plunges Off 1,300ft Cliff During Alleged Intimate Moment

A tragic accident in Brazil has claimed the lives of a couple, Adriana Machado Ribeiro, 42, and Marcone da Silva Cardoso, 26, after their car plunged off a 1,300ft cliff in Venda Nova do Imigrante, Espírito Santo State.

The incident occurred on Monday, 4 August, while the pair were reportedly engaged in sexual activity inside their parked vehicle. Police believe the couple’s movements may have caused the car to shift dangerously close to the cliff edge before tumbling over.

According to investigators, the car’s handbrake had been engaged, but the vehicle still moved, plunging approximately 100 metres before ejecting both occupants. The wreck then continued rolling for another 300 metres down the steep slope.

Police officer Alberto Roque Peres, who is leading the investigation, told local media that there is no suspicion of foul play. “There were no signs of violence at the scene or on the bodies, and the car’s handbrake was engaged,” he stated.

The couple, who had been in a relationship for about six months, were discovered naked near the wreckage by a caretaker working in the area. Emergency responders pronounced both dead at the scene.

Marcone, a machine operator, and Adriana, who worked at her mother’s bakery, were well known in their local community. Adriana is survived by her son and daughter, who are now grappling with the sudden loss of their mother.

Authorities continue to examine the technical aspects of the accident, including whether mechanical failure or unstable terrain contributed to the vehicle’s movement. The case has sparked discussions in the region about safety near cliffs and the potential dangers of parking too close to edges in mountainous areas.
