The Benue State Government has revealed that it has identified over 2,416 unapproved schools operating in the state, posing a risk to the safety and quality of education for thousands of students. Dr. Terna Francis, Director-General of Benue State Education Quality Assurance (BEQA), announced this at a meeting with education stakeholders and school proprietors, warning that these schools will be demolished if they fail to meet specified building standards. The move comes in response to recent incidents of school collapses in Abuja and Plateau State, highlighting the urgent need for action to prevent such tragedies in Benue State. The government’s crackdown aims to ensure that all schools in the state provide a safe and quality learning environment for students.
