EFCC Denies Reports of Interpol Rejecting Wanted Alert on Atiku’s Son-in-Law
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed as fake news reports suggesting that the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) rejected its wanted alert on Bashir Haske, son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the anti-graft agency described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that at no point did Interpol decline its request.
The EFCC had earlier declared Haske wanted over alleged financial crimes. However, shortly after the announcement, online reports began circulating, claiming that Interpol had refused to act on the alert on the grounds that the move was politically motivated.
The Commission firmly debunked the claim, urging the public to disregard it and rely only on verified updates from its official channels.
Akahi News gathered that the EFCC has intensified efforts to track Haske’s whereabouts, even as political undertones continue to trail the case due to his family ties with Atiku.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to pursuing all financial crime cases without fear or favour, insisting that political affiliations will not shield any suspect from prosecution.
