Hilda Baci Assures Fans of Pot Hygiene Ahead of Record-Breaking Jollof Rice Attempt at Eko Hotel
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
Renowned celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has reassured fans, food enthusiasts, and event participants of the hygiene standards of the massive cooking pot set to be used in her record-breaking jollof rice attempt at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

Personal Effort to Ensure Cleanliness
In a statement shared across her social media platforms, Baci revealed that she personally took charge of cleaning the custom-fabricated, six-metre-wide pot before the event. She explained that the cleaning was done using a branded detergent, ensuring that the pot met the highest standards of hygiene before cooking commenced.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” the record-breaking chef announced, tagging the detergent brand as she prepared for what promises to be another historic moment.
Accompanying the post was a video clip showing Baci inside the enormous pot, scrubbing its interior walls. With humour, she told viewers, “I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out. Why is she inside the pot? The reason I’m inside the pot at this moment is because I need to wash the pot.”
Commitment to Food Safety
Baci further assured participants that the pot would undergo multiple rounds of cleaning before any cooking began. She explained that after scrubbing and draining all liquid from the pot, it would be rinsed thoroughly, and brand-new mopsticks would be used to ensure a completely sanitised cooking environment.
“Once I am done washing the interior of the pot and have gotten rid of all the liquid, I’m going to rinse it again. I have brand-new mopsticks that I would be using to clean it once again before we use it to cook for you,” she added.
Baci pledged that the final outcome would not only be record-breaking in size but also in quality, describing the meal as “the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten.”
Thousands Expected at the Free Event
The much-anticipated event, organised in partnership with popular seasoning brand Gino, is expected to draw over 20,000 attendees, as the celebrity chef attempts to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
Security, logistics, and hygiene have been top priorities for the organisers, ensuring that participants not only witness a culinary milestone but also enjoy a safe and enjoyable experience.
A History of Breaking Records
Hilda Baci first rose to international fame in May 2023 after completing a 100-hour cooking marathon in Lagos, a feat that earned her global recognition and a place in the Guinness World Records.
With this latest attempt, the chef continues to champion Nigerian cuisine on the world stage while promoting community, culture, and culinary excellence.
