Nigeria Police Force Announces 2025 Recruitment Exercise, Applications Begin September 22

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially announced the commencement of its 2025 recruitment exercise, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for various positions within the Force. According to a public notice issued by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, the recruitment process will begin on Monday, 22nd September 2025.
The exercise, aimed at bolstering the manpower needs of the Force, seeks to attract competent young Nigerians to serve in one of the country’s most critical security institutions.
Eligibility Requirements
The notice outlined clear academic and general eligibility criteria for prospective candidates. Interested applicants must:
- Possess SSCE, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB certificates with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Holders of OND certificates from recognised institutions are also eligible.
- Candidates with HND or B.Sc. degrees in relevant disciplines are equally invited to apply.
General Requirements for Applicants
The Nigeria Police Force listed several mandatory requirements for all prospective candidates, including:
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
- Possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is compulsory.
- Age limits:
- 18–25 years for SSCE/OND holders.
- Not above 28 years for HND/B.Sc. holders.
- Minimum height requirements:
- 1.67m for males
- 1.64m for females
- Applicants must be physically and mentally fit for service, with evidence of medical fitness from a recognised government hospital.
- Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of application.
How to Apply
The NPF stated that the application process is entirely free of charge and will be conducted strictly online to ensure transparency and accessibility.
Steps include:
- Visiting the official recruitment portal: http://www.policerecruitment.gov.ng starting from September 23rd.
- Completing the online application form with accurate personal and academic information.
- Uploading scanned copies of academic certificates, birth certificates or age declarations, and certificates of origin.
- Printing out the completed acknowledgement slip for use in subsequent stages, including screening and physical verification.
Transparency and Next Steps
The Police Force assured applicants that the recruitment exercise would be merit-driven and transparent, with no room for bribery or lobbying. Successful candidates from the initial screening phase will be contacted for further assessments, including physical and medical evaluations, before final selection.
The Force also reiterated that it would continue to work towards improving professionalism, accountability, and capacity within the Nigeria Police Force, in line with global policing standards.
