Appointment Strengthens Youth Inclusion in Governance
The Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO), FCT chapter, Deji Mike Adebayo, has been appointed the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Business Development at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Investment and Property Development Company (IPDC).
His appointment, dated August 8, 2025, was formally conveyed in a letter signed by the Executive Chairman of AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zakka, who charged him to uphold responsibility and dedication in his new role.
“We count on you to uphold a high sense of responsibility, dedication and commitment in the discharge of your duties,” the letter partly reads.
A Youth Advocate with a Track Record
Adebayo, a staunch advocate for youth participation in governance, first came into national limelight when he emerged as the winner of “The Next President Show”, a reality TV programme in which 37 contestants representing Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT competed for the symbolic title of youth president.
In 2019, he also contested for the City Centre ward seat in AMAC under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), demonstrating his interest in grassroots politics.
Before his latest appointment, Adebayo served as the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Area 2, Garki, Abuja, where he played a key role in fostering collaboration between security agencies and residents.
Youth Representation in AMAC
According to Akahi News, his appointment is widely viewed as part of AMAC’s deliberate effort to bring young people into governance and decision-making.
Upon receiving the appointment, Adebayo expressed his gratitude to Hon. Christopher Zakka and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“I deeply appreciate the Executive Chairman of AMAC for this honour. I will work with commitment to strengthen the vision of IPDC and contribute to the development of Abuja Municipal Area Council,” he said.
With this new role, Deji Mike Adebayo is expected to drive business development initiatives within AMAC IPDC, reinforcing both economic growth and youth inclusion in governance.
