Rev. Father Thomas Onabe Urges Reduction in Expectations in Weekend Show
Yahe, Cross River State – In this week’s edition of his popular weekend show, Rev. Father Thomas Onabe, the Parish Priest of St. John Catholic Church in Yahe, Yala Local Government Area, Cross River State, delivered a compelling message titled “Reduce Your Expectations.”

Addressing his audience, Father Onabe highlighted the natural human tendency to have high expectations from parents, children, siblings, friends, and loved ones. However, he warned that such expectations often lead to disappointment. “You see yourself unhappy because what you expected, you are not able to get,” he noted.
Father Onabe emphasized the wisdom of managing expectations to avoid disappointment. “Blessed are those who do not expect, for they will never be disappointed,” he declared. He advised always having a contingency plan (Plan B) in case those who make promises fail to fulfill them.
“It is good not to expect too much,” the clergyman reiterated throughout his video show. “If you put all your hope in human beings, they will fail you. Human beings are full of surprises, but God can’t fail you. Human beings are unpredictable; the ways of humans are not the same as God’s.”
Father Onabe concluded with a call for gratitude, urging his followers to appreciate any assistance they receive, regardless of how small. He insisted that maintaining an open mind would help mitigate feelings of disappointment when expectations are not met.
