The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced changes in the examination venues for some candidates sitting for the 2025 WAEC GCE Second Series across various centres in Nigeria.

According to updates obtained by Akahi News, several candidates have already received text messages notifying them of the new venues. The Council, therefore, strongly advises all candidates to log in to their individual WAEC portals to verify whether these adjustments affect their examination centres.

In one of the confirmed cases, an SMS message from WAEC Osogbo Office reads:

“Your examination venue has changed from Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu to OAU ICT Centre.”

This development has prompted many candidates to double-check their profiles and print updated examination slips to avoid confusion on the day of the test.

Akahi News learnt that the changes may have been made for logistical or security reasons, particularly in areas where the number of registered candidates exceeded the initial seating capacity of approved centres.

Candidates Advised to Act Promptly

WAEC officials have cautioned candidates against assuming that their venues remain the same, stressing the importance of checking their online portals regularly for the most current updates.

“Candidates are advised to confirm their examination centres through their WAEC profiles before their papers commence. Any candidate who reports to the wrong centre may not be allowed to sit for the examination,” a WAEC official stated.

Akahi News also gathered that affected candidates are encouraged to reprint their examination schedules immediately after confirming any changes, to prevent misplacement or miscommunication during the exam period.
