WASSCE 2025 Second Series Registration: WAEC Issues Final Deadlines for Private Candidates
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2025 – Second Series is still ongoing, with strict deadlines set for intending candidates.

According to WAEC, the closing date for the generation of registration PINs has been fixed for Friday, 19th September 2025. Intending candidates have therefore been strongly advised to complete all required processes before the cut-off date to avoid last-minute issues.
Key Dates and Requirements
Akahi News gathered that after generating the PIN, candidates must complete both the biometric capturing and online registration no later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, 21st September 2025.
The examination body emphasised that the PIN serves as a unique access code for completing the registration process, including choosing examination centres, subjects, and personal details. Without it, candidates will not be able to proceed with their registration.
In its advisory, WAEC further explained that candidates should ensure their biometrics are captured at authorised WAEC-accredited centres to avoid errors that could invalidate their registration.
No Extension for Late Registration
WAEC made it clear that there will be no extension of these deadlines. Once the portal closes at 11:59 pm on 21st September 2025, no new registrations will be accepted.
Intending candidates are therefore urged to:
- Generate their PINs before 19th September 2025.
- Complete biometric capturing promptly.
- Submit their registration details online before the closing date.
The examination body also warned against patronising unauthorised agents or websites to avoid being defrauded or disqualified.
Final Opportunity for 2025 Candidates
The WASSCE Second Series is designed to give private candidates a final opportunity within the year to obtain the West African Senior School Certificate. Many candidates rely on the certificate for higher education admission and employment opportunities both within and outside Nigeria.
As the deadlines draw closer, WAEC has reiterated its commitment to a smooth registration process while urging candidates to act swiftly to avoid being left out.
