By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
The Kwara State Government has confirmed that infamous kidnap kingpin, Maidawa, along with several of his accomplices, was killed during airstrikes conducted by the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) in the forests surrounding Isanlu-Isin.

According to Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaiye, intercepted communications from gang members revealed that Maidawa and his associates were neutralised during a joint military operation on September 30, 2025. News of his death was reportedly shared among other gang members by another wanted kidnapper, Baccujo, during a conversation in Sabuwa Local Government Area, Katsina State.
Coordinated Military Efforts
The statement highlighted that security forces have intensified operations following renewed calls by the state government to curb kidnapping and ransom activities. The offensive, combining air and ground units, is being carried out in phases to cover all affected areas, including Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas.
This military campaign comes after a deadly attack on Oke-Ode last Sunday, which resulted in the deaths of vigilantes and residents, with several others abducted. Authorities emphasised that the operation aims to dismantle criminal networks entrenched in dense forested regions and restore safety to communities frequently targeted by kidnappers.
Governor Kwara State, through his office, commended the efforts of the Nigeria Air Force and the army for their decisive actions and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies to ensure lasting peace.
