By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
In a symbolic moment for Yoruba unity, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has granted royal forgiveness to Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. The reconciliation took place at the Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife.

During the meeting, Sunday Igboho, visibly moved, apologised to the monarch for past remarks he admitted were harsh and disrespectful. Expressing gratitude, he thanked the Ooni for receiving him and granting him the opportunity to seek forgiveness.
In his response, Oba Ogunwusi described Igboho as a “brilliant and courageous son of Yorubaland,” affirming that the activist’s struggles were not for selfish reasons but for the collective interest of the Yoruba people.
“I have forgiven you. Your passion was never about yourself but for the Yoruba race. Let us put aside division and unite as one Yoruba family,” the Ooni declared, urging for harmony and reconciliation across Yorubaland.
The monarch further assured that steps would be taken to address some of Igboho’s long-standing concerns, including efforts to clear his name from the security watchlist and facilitate the unfreezing of his bank accounts.
The reconciliation has been described as a milestone in Yoruba history, highlighting the importance of dialogue, forgiveness, and unity in resolving internal disputes.
