The University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), through its Department of Nursing Services, successfully hosted the maiden edition of its Nurses’ Workshop 2025. Themed “Strengthening Public Trust through Strategic Communication: Advancing Nursing Leadership and Professional Credibility in a Complex Healthcare Landscape,” the workshop drew together nurses, health experts, and stakeholders in the medical community to deliberate on crucial issues affecting the profession.

Among the awardees was Bishop (Dr.) Mrs. EyoAnwan Bassey Otu, First Lady and Wife of the Cross River State Governor, who was represented by Dr. (Mrs.) Vivian Otu, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency. She received the Distinguished Humanitarian Services Award for her remarkable interventions in providing free health services to vulnerable populations.
Also recognised was Bishop Ofonmbuk Archibong, who received the Humanitarian Services Award for his regular visits to UCTH, where he offered prayers and support to patients and the less privileged.
In addition, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Ansa Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu, was honoured for her philanthropic engagement and unwavering support to the hospital community.

- Pst. Dr. (Mrs.) Comfort Ekanem
- Chief Victor Felix Okon Idem, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Cross River State.
