Rev. Fr. Andrew Fasina’s New Month Blessings: A Message of Transformation and Trust
In a heartfelt message to the faithful, Rev. Fr. Andrew Fasina, Associate Priest of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral Church in Lagere, Ile-ife, offers his blessings for the new month. Drawing from the Book of Jeremiah, he reflects on the metaphor of the potter and the clay, emphasizing God’s transformative power in our lives.

“O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.” (Cf. Jeremiah 18:5).
Rev. Fr. Fasina prays that just as the Lord processes the soil into clay, removing all that is unnecessary, He may remove anything unnecessary from our lives. He asks for the Lord to soften our hearts, wills, and bodies, making us moveable like clay in His hands.
He continues with a prayer for strength to be open to God’s artistic vision, so that as we start to take shape, we may remain centered and not lose form. Fr. Fasina likens the trials we face to the process of being put through fire in a kiln, urging us to see these challenges as transformations rather than punishments.
“May He grant you the grace to trust the slow process and know that the final process will be perfect, unrepeatable, and unique in this month and beyond,” he prays.
Concluding with a blessing, Rev. Fr. Fasina invokes the Holy Trinity: “And may Almighty God bless you, the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
