NDLEA Arrests Widow in Lagos for Attempted Cocaine Trafficking Disguised as Pregnancy

Widow Nabbed for Concealing Cocaine Under Fake Pregnancy

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine concealed under a fake pregnancy disguise.

Ezewuike, who runs a fashion outfit known as Golden Star Creation in the Okota area of Lagos, was intercepted at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, on Friday, 22nd August 2025, while trying to transport the illicit drug to customers in Abuja.

A follow-up raid at her residence in Ago Palace Way, Okota, uncovered an additional 200 grams of a cutting agent used in cocaine processing. In her statement to investigators, Ezewuike, a mother of one, confessed that she inherited the drug business from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite being actively engaged in the fashion trade for over 20 years.

NDLEA Intercepts Cannabis Concealed in Imported Kitchen Sinks

In related operations, NDLEA operatives seized 90 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis weighing 48.6 kilograms, cleverly hidden inside three cartons of imported kitchen sinks from the United States. The interception was made at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, 19th August, according to the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi.

Crackdown on Drug Networks Across States

In Adamawa State, NDLEA agents raided the home of a notorious dealer, Idris Garba, at Rumde Baru in Yola South on Friday, 22nd August. While Garba managed to escape by scaling a fence, his associate, Boniface Nnaji, 55, was caught attempting the same. Recovered from the scene were a black Toyota Thundra jeep and a Toyota Yaris car, used to transport 354,480 pills of tramadol and other opioids.

Similarly, in Kano State, the agency arrested Buhari Ibrahim, 25, and Mansur Musa, 24, at Zangon Ungogo with 5,850 capsules of pregabalin on Tuesday, 19th August. A separate operation led to the discovery of 452,070 opioid pills in the residence of a fugitive suspect, Rabilu Mukhtar, in Rangaza, Ungogo LGA. On the same day, Buhari Idris, 35, was apprehended at Tashan Rami with 140 litres of codeine syrup, while another suspect, Adamu Yusuf, 29, was caught with nearly 7,000 capsules of tramadol along Zaria-Kano road on Saturday, 23rd August.

In Abuja, two dispatch riders were arrested for distributing illicit drugs, while further operations across Taraba, Edo, Delta, Ondo, and Ekiti States led to the destruction of massive cannabis farms and warehouses.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and safeguarding communities from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
