NYCN Yala Chapter Engages Leaders in Drive for Peace, Unity and Youth Development

The Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Yala Chapter, Comrade Igbang Simeon Uhili, has led members of his executive council and key stakeholders on a familiarisation visit to prominent leaders in Cross River State as part of efforts to foster peace, unity, and development among Yala youths.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman of Yala Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Elder Fred Okem, at his residence in Igoli, Ogoja. The visit, Akahi News learnt, centred on strengthening collaboration with the council chairman to promote youth empowerment and community development in Yala.

During the engagement, the NYCN leadership presented a portrait, branded T-shirt, and cap bearing the council’s insignia to the local government chairman. Responding, Hon. Dr. Elder Fred Okem warmly welcomed the youth leaders, commending their initiative and assuring them of his unwavering support. He pledged to work closely with the council to ensure peace, unity, and progress that would guarantee meaningful development for young people in Yala.

In continuation of the outreach, the NYCN team also visited the Director General of the Cross River State Electrification Agency, Hon. Francis Ekpo, to express appreciation for his contributions to grassroots development. Comrade Igbang highlighted the DG’s historic role in organising a free medical outreach and spearheading the New Yam Festival celebration in Yahe Ward, which brought together youths, elders, chiefs, and community members.

Hon. Francis Ekpo, in his response, thanked the youth council for recognising his efforts and assured them of his continued partnership in initiatives that would empower Yala youths and uplift communities across the state.
