Three Nigerians Arrested in Kozhikode Drug Case as Haryana Police Bust Synthetic Drug Factory

The Kozhikode Town Police on Monday confirmed the arrest of three Nigerian nationals in connection with a major drug trafficking case that led to the discovery of a synthetic drug manufacturing facility in Gurugram, Haryana.

The breakthrough followed a joint operation between Kozhikode and Haryana police, triggered by the February 2025 seizure of 778g of MDMA near Kozhikode railway station. Interrogation of an accused, identified as Siraj from Malappuram, revealed that he sourced the drugs from New Delhi through a Nigerian contact. Further analysis of his mobile and bank transactions linked the trail to three Nigerian suspects.
The men, identified as Henry Onuchukwu, John alias David, and Okolie Romanus, were tracked to Gurugram with the help of mobile tower data and later apprehended. Haryana police raided the suspected “drug kitchens” hidden inside an industrial estate, where they recovered 900g of cocaine, 2.3kg of unprocessed cocaine, 1.6kg of sulfonamides (Sulfa), and 43 mobile phones. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth ₹1 crore.
In total, eight people were arrested in the raid, including six Nigerians, one Nepali national, and one Mizoram native. Police disclosed that except for Romanus, none of the foreign suspects had valid visas or documentation to reside in India.
A special investigation team from Kozhikode, led by Inspector Jithesh, carried out operations across Haryana, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with local authorities. Officials say the arrests mark a significant step in dismantling an international drug network linked to Kerala.
