Major General H.T. Dada, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army in Enugu, emphasized the importance of ongoing training in the military, stating that it serves as the foundation for military professionalism. He made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the 82 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-commissioned Officers competition, which took place at the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Calabar.

Brigadier General R.S. Omolori, representing the GOC at the event, expressed his satisfaction with the competition and affirmed that the division would uphold its training schedules in accordance with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff. He acknowledged the hard work, discipline, and resourcefulness exhibited by the participants at various levels of preparation.

Major General Dada urged the soldiers in the division to maintain their dedication to military values, where training is regarded as an integral aspect of their profession. He emphasized that regular exercises enable soldiers to improve their current tactics, techniques, and procedures while also acquiring new ones in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision. The GOC encouraged the soldiers to address their weaknesses while building on their strengths.

The GOC commended the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the competing brigades, calling on the winners to show magnanimity in victory and urging the losers to strive harder in future competitions.

Brigadier General E.I. Okoro, the commander of the 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army in Calabar, emphasized the timeliness of the exercise. Brig. Gen. Okoro expressed his satisfaction with the competition, particularly praising the participants for their discipline, motivation, and comradeship during the exercise.

The competition involved five Army formations, including the 82 Division Garrison, 13 Brigade Calabar, 14 Brigade, 34 Artillery Brigade, and 44 Engineering Brigade. The drills showcased by these formations captivated the audience.
